Tuna Mignon

Yesterday we had to go to Newport, which is about 30 minutes south of us.  We always have a dilemma of where to eat, as our two favorite places (Local Ocean and Nana's Irish Pub) are there.  Since we had quite a few errands to run, we decided to go to Local Ocean right when we got to town.  Local Ocean is located right on the bayfront and they are one of two restaurants that are allowed to buy their fish right off the boats there in the bay.
We shared their soup of the day, which was Hot and Sour Prawns.  It was very herb-y, light and refreshing.  We shared the Tuna Mignon for our entree.  WOW!  I can honestly say this is the first time I have had fresh tuna and I was blown away.  I was a little skeptical about eating a piece of fish cooked "medium rare" but it was amazing!

We also had to share an order of fries.  They have amazing fries as well.

After running errands, we ended the day at Nana's Irish Pub.  We had our usual Strongbow ciders, their signature hot chicken bites, Emerald Isle fries, and I had the Salmon spread.
Despite the rain and wind, we had a lovely day with lots of laughs!
